BIO:
The Hughes Brothers, Dylan (bass, older) and Ian (guitar, taller) grew up in the middle of North Seattle’s competitive student jazz scene but they were mostly discouraged by all that noise and came up playing grunge and prog rock with garage bands instead. A love of instrumental music and the local jam session scene sprung from this. The brothers met current band members through these sessions and were inspired by the thriving instrumental music scene in Seattle to find their own sound.
The tunes drift between adventurous textural and cinematic pieces an funky horn-driven groovers.
“Suave, melodious jazz funk that should appeal to fans of Chick Corea, Grant Green, Donald Byrd, and Ben Sidran.” -Dave Segal with “The Stranger”
“The musicianship and interplay is impeccably tight, as are the arrangements and compositions the band comes through with, but they aren’t so complex and challenging that you can’t just sit back in your chair and bob your head along to their songs” – Northwest Music Scene
